Meditation is sitting still on purpose. Attention on breath, body, or a simple cue, coming back when you leave. Ten minutes most days beats a silent retreat you never book. HRV can move. Rumination can quiet. You do not need quantum vocabulary for that.
Joe Dispenza built a business on stretching placebo and attention as far as they will go. Use the cushion. Leave Cancún optional. Muse and friends are training wheels if you like a beep. Breathing drills on breath work and sleep will do more for 11 p.m. rumination than a new app icon.
A version you will actually do
Same chair, same time, 10 minutes. Breath in the nose. When the mind leaves, notice, return. That is the whole sport. If you want guided, pick one voice and stay. Switching apps every week is another form of distraction.
FAQ
Do I have to empty my mind?
No. You practice returning. Empty is a rumor.
Morning or night?
The one you will keep. Night can help some people downshift. It can also be the only quiet slot you have.
Can it replace therapy?
No. Trauma and depression need humans who are trained for that.
Not psychiatric care. If meditation makes you more panicked or dissociated, stop and talk to someone.
