Red and near-infrared light is a dose, not a glow. Photons in roughly 630–850 nm, close to the skin, for minutes, several times a week. Mitochondria absorb some of that light. Skin, joints, and “I feel recovered” are the honest use cases. A 10-minute Instagram session at two meters with a toy panel is a nightlight.
How to not waste the purchase
Buy a panel you will sit in front of. We have reviewed the Red Light Pro and BioMax. Distance and time matter more than the brand in the ad. Face and body: start a few minutes, build toward 10–20 depending on irradiance. Eyes: do not stare into LEDs. Skin goals live on skin. Cellular pitch lives on metabolism.
It will not replace lifting, sleep, or sunscreen. It can be a recovery extra if the panel is not in a closet. Pair with sauna if you already heat. Skip the “treats everything” brochure.
FAQ
Does it tan or burn?
Red/NIR is not a UV tanning bed. You can still overdo heat and dryness. Use as directed, not as a nap under a heat lamp.
Masks vs full panels?
Masks are for face. Panels cover more tissue. Buy for the job you have.
How soon will I see something?
Skin: weeks to months. “Energy”: if nothing in two weeks of real use, it may not be your lever.
Not a cancer treatment. Photosensitizing drugs and active skin disease: ask a clinician.
