The file

L-citrulline is an amino acid the kidneys turn into arginine, which feeds nitric oxide. Nitric oxide relaxes blood vessels. That is the pump, and it is also a small endurance and blood-pressure story. The trials that bother to use a real dose land around 6 to 8 grams of L-citrulline, not 1 gram hidden in a pre-workout. Citrulline malate 2:1 means a third of the scoop is malate. Read the base, not the blend weight.

Six grams, not a dusting

A lot of tubs dose 3 grams a scoop because 3 grams is a gentle label. The performance number is closer to two of those scoops, before training. For blood pressure, studies often split a similar daily total. It is sour and it mixes. It is not caffeine. On muscle it sits next to creatine as a cheap add-on to training you already do. On heart and lungs it is a small vessel effect, not a blood-pressure drug.

Low blood pressure, nitrate drugs, and ED drugs that also raise nitric oxide are the stack to avoid improvising. Kidneys make the conversion. Kidney disease means ask first. The tingle people blame on citrulline is usually beta-alanine in the same pre-workout. This page is the pure base.

Where it sits

On supplementation and on lifting, citrulline is optional and dose-dependent. If the scoop says 3 grams, the studied training dose is two scoops. If you feel nothing at 6 grams, you are not missing a secret form.
